I’ve been answering wine queries on the question and answer site Quora. I’ll share some of the most interesting questions I’ve been asked and, of course, my answers. I limit myself to spending a couple minutes on each response, not doing any research or “cheating.” I rely on my experience and opinion, which is probably not a bad way handle most things.
Question: Which wine is better suited for cold weather: red wine or white wine?
Answer: Ah! You would think red. Heartier, stronger, gives more of a “warming” feeling. And just looks more like a winter beverage. But use cold weather as a time to break out richer white wines that see some oak. Big Chardonnays would be a perfect example.
(And here’s one to try from Napa Valley with present, but balanced, oak. Add it to your cold weather wines pile.)
