Well, I drank another stunning wine from Bierzo, the grape being Mencia.
2003 Decendientes de J. Palacios Petalos del Bierzo
Stunning. Bierzo is in the upper left-hand corner of Spain, practically right above Portugal. The vineyards are usually fairly high-altitude, so these wines aren’t all roasty and pruney like other Spanish reds from the south. I paid about 17 bucks for it and it was worth every penny. These wines are great, just elegant and delicious.
So I’m going to start looking for a job in Bierzo. Maybe I can work for Dominio de Tares; it looks like they have sweet digs:
I just bought my first Granache the other day and I’m excited to open it.
