After a week of soul-crushing commuting, particularly Thursday’s debacle coming back from Bellevue to Seattle on the 520 floating bridge, I am especially ready to relax and fire up…some weekend wine links!
First up: Finally, someone pairs wine with weed. And wines that I am fond of! I, however, have no feelings for the strains of pot; haven’t tried ’em. Though it is legal here. Anyway, I have been a fan of Mulderbosch (South African wines, BTW) since at least 2008; they have been a Thanksgiving staple.

This is the best opinion piece I’ve read on Champagne, ever. Geoff Kruth does two things that wine hipsters would never do: defend large producers and, at the same time, be critical of the mania for small “grower” Champagnes. A must-read.
Marcy Gordon details a group of California producers who are focusing on grapes not named Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, or even (GASP!) Pinot Noir. You will recognize William Allen of Two Shepherds from my podcast.

What’s it like to start a distributorship with a focus on Oregon and Washington in European wine-centric New York City? Find out. And hey, Savage Grace is mentioned.
Finally, you KNOW I’ve got something to say about this. Next week. Stay tuned.
